Detox week recap
Detox was hard. Period. BUT I lost an average of a pound a day and am down 7.5 pounds in the first week! FINALLY past the annoying plateau! Planning meals ahead of time was a crucial part of my success since ALL you can eat is vegetables and fruit. V8 was a lifesaver. If you ever want to cleanse your body through a detox make a meal plan and cook double at dinner so you can have leftovers for lunches. My detox stuffed mushrooms lasted me 3 days and they were delicious! I felt a little tired the first couple of days but it felt so good to watch the pounds melt away without working out. I forgot to mention you are not allowed to work out during detox so this girl was not running! I also felt starving constantly. It is really important to have snacks on hand because you will not stay full for long eating only veggies. After my body got more used to having only fruit and veggies I felt more energized and so motivated to reach my final goal.
Now....on to PROTEIN!!!
Asian Sesame Tilapia |
Detox lasts 7-10 days and after that you can introduce protein back into your diet! SO HAPPY. All week during detox all I wanted was a piece of fish. Salmon, haddock, anything. I actually felt sick the first day of week 2 after eating a 4oz. piece of chicken. This is normal since your body is readjusting to new food (once again) and I was fine after that first day.
TLS Week two:
- 3-4 oz. protein 3 times a day
- 6-12 cups of vegetables a day
- 1 to 2 servings of fruit a day
- 8+ glasses of water (you should drink half your body weight in ounces)
The TLS website and our coaches provided a list of foods we can eat (there is so much) and taught us about portion sizes. We also introduced supplements this week that are purchased through the TLS website (and included in the starter kit when you sign up for the program). We take a multivitamin in powder form (mix with water) and it is the best multivitamin I have ever taken because it doesn't upset my stomach and you take it first thing in the morning when you get up, so you don't have to worry about an empty stomach.
Alright, enough out of this Chatty Cathy... on to a RECIPE!
Asian Sesame Tilapia & Roasted Broccoli
Serves 4
Ingredients:
4 tilapia filets
4 scallions chopped (white and green)
1 tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil
2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
1 tsp ground ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp garlic powder
4 cups fresh broccoli florets
1 tbsp lemon juice
Olive oil cooking spray
Salt & Pepper
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350° line a baking sheet with tin foil and spray with the cooking spray. Spread the broccoli out evenly on the baking sheet and spray the tops with the cooking spray. Drizzle with the lemon juice, season with garlic powder, salt & pepper and roast for 20-25 mins.
Meanwhile, heat the sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the scallions, soy sauce, garlic and ginger and saute until tender, about 4 minutes. Season the fish with salt and pepper and add to the skillet with the scallions. Cook 4 minutes per side until perfectly flaky :)
Maybe I will try this recipe. It sounds good.
